Each award winner is an outstanding person from Latin America who has made cutting edge contributions to improve the population’s health and well-being. Various awards were given at the event: The Abraham Horwitz Award for Leadership in Inter-American Health; The Pedro N. Acha Award for Veterinary Public Health; The Fred L. Soper Award for Excellence in Health Literature; The Clarence H. Moore Award in Voluntary Service; 2009 PAHO Award for Administration; and the PAHO Champion of Health.
