PAHEF Supports Best Practices Awards Event:
International Women's Day 2009

The Pan American Health and Education Foundation (PAHEF), through the generosity of Merck Co. & Inc. , is pleased to continue its support of ending gender violence by supporting the Pan American Health Organization’s 2009 observance of International Women’s Day: Culture and Gender Matter! Health for All.

The Director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Dr. Mirta Roses, presented awards to the two winners of the “Best Practices for Integrating Gender in Health” competition on Wednesday, 11 March, at PAHO Regional Headquarters in Washington, DC. PAHO received 44 nominations from 19 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

PAHEF Executive Director, Mr. Edward L. Kadunc, extends his congratulations to the representatives of the recognized Best Practices projects--the “Empowering families in combating domestic violence” initiative in São Carlos, Brazil and the “Primary Health Care with a Gender Focus” initiative in Bolivia.
